The Henry Schein Victoria team recently rolled up their sleeves and stepped into the vibrant yellow world of Oz Harvest, Australia’s leading food-rescue organisation. What unfolded was more than a volunteering day - it was a reminder of how collective action can nourish communities, reduce waste, and strengthen our culture of care.
Oz Harvest rescues quality surplus food from supermarkets, markets, cafés, and producers, redirecting it to charities that support people doing it tough. With millions of Australians facing food insecurity, their mission is both urgent and deeply human.
For the Henry Schein VIC team, partnering with Oz Harvest aligns perfectly with our commitment to community health, sustainability, and social responsibility.
Our team participated in Oz Harvest’s signature Cooking for a Cause program at the Port Melbourne kitchen - a high-energy, zero-waste cooking experience guided by professional Oz Harvest chefs.
During the session, the VIC team:
- Transformed rescued ingredients into hearty, nutritious meals
- Learned zero-waste cooking techniques that can be used at home and at work
- Collaborated in the kitchen to prepare large-batch meals for local charities
- Gained insight into food insecurity and the scale of food waste in Australia
The atmosphere was warm, energetic, and full of purpose - a perfect blend of teamwork and community service.
